Stu Upson

President

Stu Upson has positions in several pickleball ventures, including Commissioner of the National Pickleball League and Strategic Advisor to PBX Pickleball. He was previously the Chief Executive Officer of USA Pickleball.

Stu’s previous sports management positions include Chief Operating Officer at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Executive Director of the United States Bowling Congress, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Skip Barber Racing, Senior Vice President of Sports and Entertainment Marketing at First USA Bank, and Vice President of Business Development at Major League Baseball Properties.

Kim Jagd

Vice President

Kim Jagd was a multi-sport standout athlete prior to attending UCLA and won an NCAA Championship in Volleyball in 1984. She also played 3 seasons on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour and then coached at UCLA and Colorado University as well as stints with USA Volleyball’s High-Performance Program for juniors, coaching numerous All-Americans and Olympians. After retiring, Kim fell in love with golf and quickly found success, winning several club Championships. In 2013, Kim discovered and began to excel in Pickleball and became a pro in 2014 after a successful Tournament of Champions. A PPR-certified teacher, Kim also dedicates time to “growing the game.”

Kim still enjoys competing at the highest level and won a Pro Split Age WD medal with Megan Fudge at the last Nationals in Indian Wells in 2022, and her NPL team, The Indy Drivers, won the inaugural 2023 Championship.

Suzanne Guerin

Secretary

Suzanne Guerin is Vice Chair of the board of directors of USA Pickleball. Drawing from her many years as a nonprofit executive, Suzanne utilizes her strategic leadership and fund development skills to promote the organization’s mission and grow the sport of pickleball.

In addition to her board work with USAP and the Pickleball Hall of Fame, Suzanne enjoys officiating on the court as a USAP-certified pickleball referee. Suzanne believes in preserving the history of pickleball and recognizing the extraordinary contributions of those who have excelled at promoting the sport. She is honored to be a board member of the Pickleball Hall of Fame.

Joe Santoro

Treasurer

A past member of the USA Pickleball Board of Directors, Joe Santoro is a Certified Referee, the Referee Training Coordinator for the Atlantic Region, and the founder/tournament director of three annual USA Pickleball-sanctioned tournaments. He is currently the Treasurer of the Pickleball Hall of Fame.

A retired US Air Force colonel, Joe is also a retired CPA, a nationally known lecturer and author of more than 50 training manuals on taxes and accounting, and the retired president of several commercial businesses.

Hilary Marold

At Large

Hilary Marold has competed all her life in racquet/paddle sports and has accrued many national titles in four different racquet/paddle sports: tennis, paddle tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball. Racquet Magazine once dubbed Hilary, “Queen of the Racquets”. She was inducted into the USPTA Paddle Tennis Hall of Fame in 2012 and the APTA Platform Tennis Hall of Fame in 1996. In the sport of pickleball, Hilary has won 22 national USAP gold medals and was inducted into the Pickleball Hall of Fame in 2020.

Hilary has taught pickleball in England, France, and Spain. She was on the board of directors of the first-ever Professional Pickleball Federation (PPF) at the Tournament of Champions tournament in 2015, which became the template for professional pickleball tours. In 2021, she joined the Pickleball Hall of Fame Nomination Committee and has since co-chaired that committee.

Dan Ellsworth

At Large

Dan Ellworth retired as the Chief Financial Officer of USA Pickleball in February 2024. He was a member and Treasurer of the USAP Board of Directors in 2011 and 2012, and in 2013, he joined the USAP staff on a part-time basis before moving to a full-time CFO role in 2020.

Dan spent six years in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear reactor operator, then worked at different electric utilities in the Engineering department until he retired in 2014. Since being asked by a fellow worker to try pickleball in 2009, he has been an avid player, playing recreationally and in tournaments when he can. Dan says, “One of the most rewarding aspects of the game is the friendships.” In prior years, Dan played about eight tournaments a year as a 4.5 player. Currently, Dan plays club pickleball 4-5 days per week and an occasional tournament. Although not USAP certified, Dan has refereed at many large tournaments.

Randy Stafford

At Large

Randy Stafford owned a construction company for 40 years that developed hundreds of athletic clubs and built over 5000 Racquetball and Squash courts. Currently, Randy and his son, Steven, own a manufacturing company that produces pickleball paddles.

In 1976, Randy authored and published the best-selling Racquetball college textbook and was an early touring racquetball pro. He has served as President of USA Racquetball and was inducted into the Racquetball Hall of Fame. He is considered a historian of the sport of racquetball and developed the online Racquetball Museum.

Barb Jordan

At Large

Barb Jordan went to Stanford on one of the first athletic scholarships given to women and was a 3-time All-American tennis player and a member of Stanford’s first women’s national championship team. She turned pro during her senior year and played on the WTA tour for several years. While on the tour, she served on the Board of Directors of the WTA. After retiring from professional tennis, she attended UCLA Law School and worked as an attorney for a private law firm, The Nature Conservancy, and the City of San Jose.

Barb is a member of the Stanford Athletic Hall of Fame, the Middle States Tennis Hall of Fame, the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame, and the Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Hall of Fame. After she retired from the law, she discovered a sport called Pickleball and was quickly hooked by the game. She is honored to serve on the Board of the Pickleball Hall of Fame.

Steve Taylor

At Large

Steve Taylor is Senior Creative Director at Digital Spatula, a boutique media and interactive production company in the Los Angeles area. After graduating from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Radio/TV/Film, Steve went on to found Digital Spatula, where he and his team provided media production services for some of the largest companies and organizations in the world.

In 1994, Steve was pulled into pickleball and hasn’t looked back. Digital Spatula has provided multimedia services for most of the large organizations in the sport over the last ten years. Steve was the official photographer and/or videographer for the APP Tour, PPA Tour, USA Pickleball Nationals, and the US Open for multiple years and has shot stills and produced video for major US media outlets like Sports Illustrated, ESPN, FOX, CBS, USA Today, and CNN. Steve has also produced much of the pre-produced and live on-air broadcast graphics for Tennis Channel and other networks.
